Hand Prostheses

"The hand is the outer brain of man," as noted by the German philosopher Kant.

On a daily basis, you're accustomed to using your hands for various tasks. Therefore, the absence of a hand or part of it becomes immediately noticeable. Gestures that once naturally emphasized your words during conversation now feel unnatural. The uncomfortable stares and constant need for explanations can make you an expert at concealing your situation.

Ardtus hand prostheses provide an excellent solution to help you regain a sense of freedom in your daily life. They restore the natural use and appearance of your hands, freeing you from the need to conceal your handicap. This restoration brings peace of mind and boosts your confidence.

An Ardtus hand prosthesis:

  • Enhances peace of mind and confidence with its realistic appearance.

  • Features positionable fingers, enabling you to grasp objects.

  • Improves functionality in many cases.

  • Restores the length of your arm and provides better balance.

  • Offers natural rigidity of silicone to stop objects.

  • Provides comfortable wear against your skin.

  • Easily attaches to your stump via vacuum fixation.

Helpful Tips

Oil-free lotion

Putting on your prosthesis is easier with a small amount of oil-free or fat-free body lotion. When removing it, allow some air to flow between your skin and the prosthesis for added ease.

Watch or ring

Disguise the prosthesis entrance by wearing a bracelet or watch over it. This helps make the transition from prosthesis to skin less noticeable. Wearing a ring can also enhance the authenticity of your prosthesis.

Customisation

Customize your prosthesis nails, whether with a standard "French manicure" look or by getting them painted or treated at a nail studio.

Soap

To maintain comfort and extend the life of your prosthesis, wash it daily with water and a small amount of soap. For stubborn stains, you can use a bit of benzene or turpentine. In cases of severe soiling, a hand prosthesis can be boiled out.
